| · PRO-CAST |
All
cast iron discs contain internal stresses that
result from the casting process. |
These stresses
can lead to disc distortion and cracking when
the discs are subjected to extreme heating and
cooling cycles experienced under braking. |
Ferodo
employs unique methods of stress-relieving its
discs, resulting in greater stability and durability
under extreme braking conditions. |
 |
 |
| · PRO-CAST
SQUARED |
This
premium stress-relieving process was developed
specifically for use during the production of
DS 2500 discs. |
Although time consuming, this process
leads to substantially improved disc life under
the most demanding driving conditions. |
Proven
under track conditions, DS 2500 discs are recommended
for any car that has serious engine modifications
or is used under track conditions. |

 |
| · CUSTOM
ALLOYS |
Most
disc manufacturers use a single-grade of cast
iron in the production of their discs. |
Ferodo
discs are cast from a number of different cast
iron alloys that are matched to the vehicle application.
|
This matching of material grade to the intended
car model ensures maximum on-car performance. |
 |
 |
| · TDS |
Ferodo's
TDS (Temperature Diagnostic System) records maximum
disc temperatures in order to let the car owner
know what heat range his particular driving style
is producing. |
TDS is an effective method of establishing
expected disc and pad life and also helps to determine
which Ferodo pad compound a driver should be using
for maximum brake performance in a particular
temperature range. |
The TDS system is applied to
both the inboard and outboard disc faces so that
uneven heating of the disc (from a dragging caliper,
for example) can be diagnosed. |
 |
 |
| · INDIVIDUAL
BALANCING |
In
order to avoid brake vibration, it is important
that the discs are properly balanced - much like
the wheels on a car. |
Ferodo DS Performance discs
are perfectly balanced during the final stages
of production to ensure smooth braking, maximum
life of the discs, surrounding bearings and suspension
components. |
 |
 |
| · WEAR
MONITOR |
The
radial slots machined into the disc faces of Ferodo
DS Performance discs doubles as wear monitors. |
The
slots are machined to the minimum thickness of
each disc as specified by the vehicle manufacturer. |
When it is no longer possible to see the slots,
the disc has reached its minimum thickness and
needs be replaced. |
This feature eliminates the
need to remove the wheels monitor disc thickness
with a micrometer. |
