EXHAUST centres are a dime a dozen today, with prices to match, but what are you really getting for your money? The bottom line is you are getting what you pay for. |
A little known fact is that SAC has facilities to offer you a perform-level, mild steel, over-the-counter performance exhaust to suit any budget and type system, From an entry level, mild steel, over-the-counter type system, to a full stainless steel, handmade, performance offering – they can do it. |
Now what if you are a true performance enthusiast, and only want the best for your vehicle? Then read on to find out what Henk Viljoen's guys at SAC Vanderbijlpark did for our Citi Golf with a full De Graaf performance branch and system... |
Optimising an engine's performance with a well designed free flow exhaust system has been the trademark of SAC and De Graaf Exhaust Systems for years. In simple words; a good balance between the air intake and burned gas outlet is what it is all about in the quest for reliable power. |
The out-flowing pipes of the performance branch, when well tuned, assist each other to 'pull' out the burned gasses from the exhaust valves. The laminar flow exhaust system can even be 'sound tuned' with the correct silencer to create a pleasant sound to the ear, as happened with our car. |
The branch is manufactured from 2mm mild steel to minimise under-bonnet noise and temperature. The rest of the off-the-shelf exhaust system is available in mild or stainless steel, whichever option your budget allows for. |
Besides the added value of a free flow system, which optimises fuel consumption and lowers engine temperatures, our project Golf has become a much more fun car to drive, thanks to De Graaf. |
Catch us next week in CitiMotoring as the car goes back to SAC Vanderbijlpark and they tackle the brakes and suspension on the car, and then also look at getting us a nice set of 17" mags and tyres. |
