With a suite of innovative products, the two organisations – leaders in their respective fields – are able to offer the consumer quality warranty, servicing, and maintenance arrangements outside of the franchised dealer infrastructure.
Up until now, the threat by manufacturers to void a warranty has been a barrier to motorists who want to service their vehicles elsewhere, or enhance performance and economy by optimising their vehicle’s engine.
But that is now a thing of the past.
“This is the first time that a fully-fledged warranty has been offered to the aftermarket,” says SAC Holdings’ Steve Fischer. “It’s a product that takes over where the manufacturer’s warranty left off, and therefore provides complete peace of mind to the consumer.”
Steve’s Auto Clinic has a comprehensive network of branches countrywide, well-equipped to take over the servicing of the vehicle – a prerequisite of the policy.
The “SAC COV1” warranty is superior to most aftermarket warranties in that it offers unlimited cover on a broad range of specified items. The items are fully covered for the duration of the specified period, and in addition, a number of items or events carry a limited benefit warranty. This includes overheating, overfueling and cambelt failure.
COV1 is aimed specifically at the owner who has had changes carried out to the vehicle while it is still subject to the manufacturer’s new vehicle warranty, and incepts on the written cancellation of the original warranty by the manufacturer or dealer. This enables the owner to enjoy comprehensive cover for the balance of the original period. For the remarkably modest sum of R2 880 on a car and R3 500 (excluding VAT) on other light passenger vehicles (such as MPVs, LCVs and SUVs), the man in the street can now purchase a warranty to supplement the cover that he has lost.
A number of additional warranties are aimed at different segments of the market, allowing buyers of even high-mileage vehicles the kind of peace of mind not normally associated with the genre. Service and Maintenance Plans, once again structured to meet specific needs and usage patterns, complete the SAC/Motorite “menu”. These products all represent exceptional value thanks to the high percentage of the premium allocated to managing the risk, made possible by the tight control of administrative costs and low commissions.
Motorite has been administering warranties, service plans and maintenance plans for 20 years, and is well-equipped to provide a high level of back-up to the SAC-branded products, which are in turn underwritten by Hollard Insurance Company.
“This range of products represents something of a breakthrough for the industry, and we’re proud to be part of an initiative that will enhance the quality of motoring for an important segment of the market,” commented Arthur Tassopoulos, Motorite’s Marketing Director. “We believe that SAC boasts a high level of expertise and provides an invaluable service to those motorists who want something extra from their wheels, and these products allow them to do so without exposing themselves to a significant risk.”
